well being
our projects

Development at Touroparc always comes from the guiding principle "more space for the animals". In 2007 we built a new giraffe house and enclosure with more space. This new enclosure will house 3 pure Niger Giraffes from 2009. Our goal is to create a group capable of reproducing.

In June 2008 we inaugurated our new Elephant House, which measures 600m2 inside and 1500m2 outside. Visitors can enter the Elephant House and see the new optimized conditions for themselves. At certain times of the day visitors can participate in special “medical training” sessions. These sessions teach animals to permit their daily medical inspections without stress.

In April 2009 250 m3 pool was added to the Elephant enclosure as always with the well being of the animals at heart.2009 marks the crowning year of all our efforts for the elephants at Touroparc. Birma, a 21-year-old female is arriving. The ultimate goal: reproduction!

New for 2009: seals and Saimiris (squirrel monkeys)

In 2010 our younger visitors will discover a new adventure amusement.

2011 is a very important year for the park as it is our 50th anniversary. We hope that 2011will be crowned by the opening of our new "African Savannah". This will be a 17hectare extension to the park where giraffes, zebra, wildebeest, antelope and ostrich will live together.

This savannah will be a representation of the landscapes found in Africa.
